Adoptions:

Legally clears children for adoption, prepares children and prospective
parents emotionally for placement, finds best family possible, make reports
to the court and supervise adoptions after placement until the adoption is
finalized. This service also provides for the recruitment, training and
assessment of prospective adoptive parents.
Nash County is now providing Confidential Intermediary Services for members
of the adoption triad when Nash County was involved in the adoption.

Aid to the Blind:
Assists visually impaired in developing their maximum individual
capabilities and in becoming self-sufficient.

The purchase of quality day care services which provides protection, care
and developmental experiences to children ages birth to 13 in the child's
own home, in the home of a caregiver, or in a day care facility. Enables
parents to be gainfully employed, in training as well as provides a resource
to prevent child abuse and neglect and out of home placement of children.

Assures that children receive adequate parental support by locating absent
parents, establishing paternity, medical and financial support obligations
and enforcing court ordered support obligations.

Delinquency Prevention Services:
In home services to prevent youth 7-17 with delinquent or status offense
behavior from becoming involved in or having further involvement with the
juvenile court system. (High risk, ungovernable, runaways, truants,
delinquent).

Problem Pregnancy Services:
Counseling to individuals involved with an unplanned pregnancy helping them
look at alternative solutions to the pregnancy and at the possible
consequences of each alternative. Services may also include residential care
in a Maternity Home where room, board, medical supervision and medications
are provided.

Preventive Services
Counseling to families regarding household management, consumer affairs,
family life, alcoholism, drug addiction, mental retardation, emotional
disturbance and school related problems. Services also include accessing
health services when needed.

Purchase of services to enable Medicaid eligible clients or eligible aged or
disabled individuals to visit medical and health related resources.

Foster Care/Permanency Planning Service for Children
(click for more information)Counseling and treatment services to children, birth families or foster
families to remedy personal problems, behavior or home conditions which led
to the need for out-of-home care for the children. This service also
provides for the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers who
serve as foster parents.

Protective Services for Children
The investigation of reports of neglect, abuse or dependency of children
under the age 18, evaluation of the degree of damage or risk to the child,
cooperation with law enforcement agencies to obtain suitable care and
services for children in or out of their own homes and initiation of court
action where necessary. Also included is case management services aimed at
alleviating problems causing neglect, abuse or dependency.

Protective Services for Adults (18 years and older)
Investigation of reports of neglect, abuse or exploitation of adults,
evaluation of the degree of damage or risk to the adult, to obtain suitable
care and services for adults in or out of their own homes and initiation of

the adult's family toward the solution and prevention of problems causing
neglect, abuse or exploitation and assisting families in utilizing
appropriate services and community resources.

Work First Employment
Provides assessment, counseling, and supportive services (including day
care, transportation, and payment of educational expenses) which enable WFFA
parents/caretakers to participate in educational and training activities
leading to self-sufficiency.

In-Home Aide
Purchase of services for the provision of care with home management,
personal care, and custodial supervision for adults who are unable to care
for themselves and have no one to provide the needed care in order to remain
in their own home.

Adult Placement Services
Assistance to aging, blind or disabled adults in finding suitable licensed
substitute homes when they are unable to remain in their own homes or when
they need to move out of institutional care. Counseling and casework
services with the adult and his family is a part of this program.

Adult Day Care
Day program for adults who may need supervision and other planned
activities on a daily basis.

Guardianship for Adults
Agency serves as court appointed guardian for persons declared incompetent.

The Agency manages benefits for minors, the aged, disabled or persons who
